Best Restaurants in Perea: Our Local Favorites by the Sea
One of the best things about staying in Perea is how easy it is to eat well without going anywhere. The waterfront is lined with seafood tavernas, cafés and casual restaurants, many directly beside the sea.
Perea is particularly known for fresh fish, seafood and Greek dishes enjoyed with views across the Thermaikos Gulf (Thessaloniki Travel describes it as one of the city’s food areas). These are the places we recommend first.
Aigialos
Best for seafood, Greek food and an easy dinner by the sea
Aigialos is our first recommendation — partly because the food is excellent, and partly because it is almost ridiculously convenient from Sunset Terrace. Walk out of the building and you are there within moments.
It is a family-run waterfront restaurant specialising in Greek and Mediterranean food, fresh fish and seafood. It is among Perea’s well-rated seafood restaurants on Tripadvisor, and local guides highlight its seaside setting and family-run character.

Kapetan Fourtounas
Best for simple, authentic local fish
This is the place we recommend when guests want something smaller and more traditional.
It is an unfussy family-style restaurant where the focus is on very fresh local fish and straightforward Greek cooking. The owners are closely involved, which gives it a much more personal feel than some of the larger waterfront restaurants.
Our tip: ask what fish is freshest that day rather than choosing only from the menu.
For something other than seafood
Perea has more variety than first-time visitors often expect. Alongside the fish tavernas, there are grills, pizza, brunch spots and more contemporary restaurants — current Tripadvisor listings include well-rated options such as Una Pizzeria and Merci Cafe Bar Restaurant.
Our pick: Abuelos
Abuelos — Spanish for “grandparents” — is where we go when we want something completely different from the tavernas: generous comfort food and lounge favourites, right on the waterfront.
The cocktails are a reason to come on their own. Their seasonal list is inspired by childhood summers at the grandparents’ house, with creamy textures, homemade sodas and fresh fruit — and they take their coffee just as seriously. Coffee in the morning, a relaxed lunch between swims, or drinks late into the evening: they are open from morning until well after midnight.
But if it is your first evening in Perea, we would still start with fish by the sea.
Worth the drive
Perea is about fish by the sea. When you want something different — a food market with lunch, a rooftop, a panorama or a special-occasion dinner — these are the places we would drive for in and around Thessaloniki.
ERGON Agora East · 24 min
Not exactly a restaurant: ERGON calls it Greece’s first and biggest “grocerant” — a market, bakery, deli and restaurants under one roof, with a garden and outdoor spaces. Come for lunch, browse the shelves of Greek products, and take a few things back for an evening on the terrace.
ERGON was born in Thessaloniki in 2007 and has since grown into an international Greek food brand, with places in Athens, London, Dubai and Doha — so here you are visiting it on home turf.

Bohème · Pylea · 18 min
Stylish all-day dining and drinks with a polished atmosphere; a good stop when you want something more elevated outside the city centre.
Asteria · Panorama · 29 min
Coffee, dinner or sunset drinks with sweeping views over Thessaloniki and the Thermaikos Gulf.
Orizontes · Aristotelous Square · 24 min
Rooftop fine dining over the heart of Thessaloniki.
Our perfect Perea evening
Swim in the late afternoon, come back to Sunset Terrace for a shower, walk downstairs for dinner at one of the waterfront tavernas — and bring a bottle of wine back to the terrace for sunset.
That is probably the simplest way to explain why we love staying here.
